I did a search for Dodge Challenger OBD2 drive cycles and got a number of hits.ġ. If you have a good relationship with a dealer's service department you might ask a tech if there's a Dodge "OBD2 drive cycle" for your car and if he can supply you with a printed copy. Generally though just a cold start following by a mix of some surface street driving then some highway driving while avoiding WOT or real aggressive driving - under some conditions this can cause the engine controller to suspend even abort readiness monitor testing - should have the readiness monitors set to complete after a while. Trouble with this is one has to watch the sensor voltages pretty close as my experience is even with a CEL and error code to actually spot the sensor acting up is not always easy because the sensor works ok for a while then it acts up but doesn't continue to act up but resumes working reasonably well.Ĭlick to expand.Different automakers - different engine controllers - might have different "drive cycles". Because often just one sensor is bad, acting up, one can spot which sensor by how its readings differ from the other side's sensor which is working just fine. A few times I've used these to identify a marginal O2 sensor but in every case I believe I was prompted to do this by a CEL accompanied by an O2 related error code.Įven with no CEL or error code, one can use an OBD2 test tool to view O2 sensor voltages in real time, both the #1 sensors and the #2 sensors. With some OBD2 test equipment one can trigger one or more engine controller O2 sensor tests. The engine controller is giving the sensors every chance to work. If the O2 sensor readiness monitor doesn't get set to complete this is a sign something's wrong probably with at least one sensor.
